Glen Strachan: Sussex Freemasons West Group Attraction Lead
Glen Strachan serves as the Attraction Lead for the Sussex Freemasons West Group, playing a vital role in fostering connections and expanding membership within the organization. His responsibilities primarily involve receiving leads from both the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) and Provincial Grand Lodge websites, where individuals express interest in joining Freemasonry. Once a lead is received, Glen makes the initial contact, engaging with potential candidates to ensure their questions are answered and to gauge their interest further. From there, he carefully matches these individuals with lodges across the West Group that best suit their preferences and circumstances.
Glen also manages the Facebook advertising campaign which is proving very successful. All Lodges in the West Group have been invited to participate in a programme running from September 24 to March 25.
A key part of Glen’s work is nurturing relationships with individuals who have previously shown interest but didn’t complete their applications. He maintains regular contact with these prospective members, sending follow-up messages to keep them engaged and ensure that they remain informed of future opportunities to join.
Glen also plays a key role the West Group’s community outreach programme. He is responsible for storing and organizing the group’s display gazebo, which is a central feature at public events aimed at raising awareness about Freemasonry. Additionally, he tracks all leads generated through these events, ensuring they are followed up and recorded in an organized manner.
His reporting structure includes regular updates to both the Provincial Membership Officer and the Chairman of the West Group. Together, they work toward the goals set by the ‘One Challenge,’ a provincial initiative aimed at strengthening Masonic membership through coordinated efforts and strategic growth. Glen’s role is pivotal in ensuring that prospective members are not only introduced to Freemasonry but are also guided through the process of joining a lodge that aligns with their values and expectations.
