Kev Parsons, Communications Lead.

Retired a few years ago and don’t seem to have a moment to myself, like so many of us I guess.
Most of my time is taken up with family, Masonry, part-time NHS employee, riding motorcycles or playing guitar in old folks homes and day centers. As a dear and departed friend and brother once said to me “I don’t know where I found the time to go to work”.
Before retiring, I was a controls and automation engineer, developing my skills sets in the Royal Air Force some years before. I set up an industrial control system integration business and in the early days, I would design, draw, program, test, install, and commission (and sell of course) all kinds of control systems, covering all manner of industy sectors. As time moved on more of my time was spent dealing with accounts, HR, Tax, VAT, H&S, and the like. Very little time was left doing the stuff that paid the bills; I had to leave that to others, who did a terrific job by the way.
Masonically, I started my journey in Southampton in 2000, even though I lived in Fareham at the time. It all comes down to the people you know, I guess. Some years later, as a result of the folks I got to know I became a Sussex mason, and now I belong to three units in the Province.
My role in the WGSM is to provide communication conduits for the group, and I am very ably assisted by Paul Norman, who is the real techy amongst us. I basically manage this platform that you are reading this piece of content on. However, our Paul is right in the middle of it with programming skills that go way beyond my abilities. This will allow us to benefit from the best of both worlds. On the one hand, a lot of the static content can be easily handled by this site, while the dynamic content can be introduced and maintained in real-time using Paul’s skill sets.
Sounds pretty good to me! 😄
